Convention No. 182 concerning the Prohibition and immediate action for the elimination of the worst forms of child labour adopted by the International Labour Organization in 1999 was established with the objective of eliminating the worst forms of child labour.

To better fight against child labour, this text identified the 5 worst forms of work consisting in inhibiting:

  1. Slavery, including the sale and trafficking of children
  2. Forced or compulsory labour, including the use of children in wars or armed conflicts
  3. Any activity that sexually exploits children, such as prostitution and pornography
  4. Any involvement in illegal activities, such as drug production and trafficking
  5. Dangerous work, i.e. any work that may affect the health, safety or well-being of children
